This 5" x 10" bowl is incredibly beautiful! The artist calls this style with the "foot" a candy dish, but with it's generous size there are many uses, like salads and snacks. (Yes, his pieces are meant to be used as well as admired!)
Ambrosia maple is from a red maple tree that Ambrosia beetles have inhabited. As artist Richard Corson says, "only in a piece that contains the entire cross section of a tree, such as a bowl or vase, can a true idea be gained of what the little beetle has accomplished."
Richard Corson is a self-taught Maine wood turner and carver; each bowl is a one-of-a-kind work of art! Once A Tree is pleased to be the spot where Mr. Corson showcases his creations - they are "lifetime pieces"! Mr. Corson signs the bottom of every bowl with his name and the wood type.
